Vehicle Sensor PCB Board Introduction
The vehicle sensor is an input device of the automobile computer system that converts various working condition information (vehicle speed, temperature, engine operating conditions) into electrical signals for optimal engine performance.
Sensor Characteristics
A sensor converts non-electrical physical quantities into usable electrical signals. It consists of three components:
- Sensitive Component: Directly senses the measured quantity
- Conversion Component: Transforms non-electrical quantities into electrical parameters
- Measurement Circuit: Converts electrical parameters into measurable quantities (voltage, current, frequency)
FR4 Material Types
- Standard FR4: Common type with good mechanical/moisture resistance (140-150°C)
- High Tg FR4: For applications requiring >150°C thermal cycling
- High CTI FR4: Better thermal conductivity (CTI >600V)
- Non-Copper FR4: Insulating material for board supports
- FR4 G10: Solid core with excellent mechanical/thermal properties
FR4 PCB Material Properties
- High Glass Transition Temperature (150Tg or 170Tg)
- High Decomposition Temperature (>345°C)
- Low CTE (2.5%-3.8%)
- Dielectric Constant @1 GHz: 4.25-4.55
- Dissipation Factor @1 GHz: 0.016
- UL 94V-0 rated
- Compatible with lead-free assembly
- Laminate thickness: 0.005" to 0.125"
FR4 PCB Applications
FR-4 is widely used in PCBs with copper-clad laminates, as well as in relays, switches, transformers, and various electrical components requiring durable insulation and mechanical support.
High Frequency PCB Material Requirements
- Stable dielectric constant (Dk)
- Low dielectric loss (Df) for minimal signal loss
- Thermal expansion coefficient matching copper foil
- Low water absorption
- Excellent heat/chemical resistance and mechanical strength
